This past Friday, firefighters from our fire company participated in a barrel fight competition. The firefighters got to practice and hone in their hoseline skills while competing against other fire companies from Warren County. A barrel fight fight provides excellent training which consists of nozzle skills, back-up skills, and hose advancement skills. It was a fun time had by all!

Every Kids' Dream

“At an early age, children notice for the first time that big, red, loud, fire engine as it roars down a street. Like every kid, it is love at first sight!" Unless one is a firefighter, not many people get the chance to ride in a fire truck and experience lights and sirens first-hand. But last month, the Long Valley Fire Company raffled a fire truck ride to one lucky student from each elementary school in Washington Township at the Trick Tray Fundraiser. The lucky winners from Flocktown/ Kossman Road School, Cucinella School, and Old Farmers Road School got to ride in the fire truck to and from school this past week. The kids got to ride with several firefighters (and their parents) and experience lights and sirens when pulling into the schools. Everyone had a blast!

Firefighters Handle Chimney Fire

Posted on June 12, 2016

Last week, Washington Township Fire Companies were dispatched to a Chimney Fire on Mission Road. First arriving officers found nothing to be showing from the exterior of the structure except for light smoke showing from the chimney. Incoming engines from Schooleys and Long Valley were advised to go to the roof, empty the fire box and check for the possibility of extension. Interior crews found high heat behind the fire box and located an active fire at the base of the flue. Crews knocked the fire with a water can and performed overhaul. All units left within an hour.
