Garbage Truck Catches Fire On Old Farmers

At 8:44am on April 2, Washington Township Fire Companies were dispatched to 51 Old Farmers Road for the report of a garbage truck on fire. Long Valley Engine 1-1 arrived on scene and quickly began knocking down the fire. Fairmount Engine 2-1 and Long Valley Engine 1-2 arrived shortly after and connected to the hydrant and assisted Engine 1-1’s crew in extinguishing the fire. No injuries occurred and units remained on scene for approximately three hours.

Batley Road Rollover

At dinner time on April 9, Long Valley Fire, Long Valley EMS and the Long Valley EMS Rescue Squad were dispatched to the area of 212 Bartley Road for a 2 car motor vehicle accident. Long Valley Engine 1-1 and Cascade 1-3 arrived on scene and crews assisted EMS with patient care. Fire crews cleaned up debris and contained minor fuel spills from both vehicles. All units cleared the scene within an hour and a half.

Tri-County And Washington Township Brush Fire

Early in the morning on April 15, Washington Township Fire companies as well as the Tri-County Fire Company (Mansfield) were dispatched to 9 River Road for a Brush Fire. Tri-County Fire units were the first on scene followed by Long Valley Engine 1-1 and then Schooleys Mountain Engine 3-2. The fire was contained to a 30 foot by 5 foot area and crews left within an hour.

Red Flag Day Brush Fire

During a Red Flag Warning day on April 28, Washington Township Fire Companies got dispatched to the area of Flintlock Drive and Parker Road for heavy smoke in the area. Fairmount Fire units and Long Valley Fire units responded to the area and found a brush fire in the back of a homeowner’s yard. The fire engulfed a small portion of a jungle gym and some fire wood and was contained to a 50 foot by 50 foot area.
